HolyMake

We are a small team that designs, builds, and runs its own products, from the first sketch to the tenth year.

The studio

HolyMake sp. z o.o. is an independent product studio registered in Warsaw, Poland. We design and build consumer mobile apps, publish them ourselves, and keep improving them long after the launch week is over.

The studio exists because of an ordinary observation: a great deal of consumer software is made by people who would never choose to use it. It is specified in one room, designed in another, built in a third, and by the time it reaches a phone nobody involved can say why any particular screen looks the way it does. We wanted to work the other way around — few people, one continuous thread from problem to release, and a direct line between the person who has the complaint and the person who can fix it.

We are self-funded. There are no investors to update, no board to persuade, and no growth targets set by somebody who has never opened the product. The trade is that we grow at the speed the work actually allows. We think that is a good trade. It lets us spend a week on something a user will notice for a second, and it lets us say no to the kind of feature that looks impressive in a roadmap and ruins an app in practice.

Most of what we make is used quietly, in the middle of an ordinary day, by someone with something more important to do than admire our work. That is the standard we hold it to: clear in the first ten seconds, and still worth keeping ten years later.

What we believe

Small teams outship big ones.

Coordination is the tax on every large organisation. Two people who trust each other and share a codebase can move through a problem faster than a department can schedule the meeting about it.

Design is how it works.

Design is not the layer applied at the end. It is the decision about what the app does, in what order, and what it refuses to ask of you. If the flow is wrong, no amount of styling will save it.

Shipping is a habit, not an event.

Releases should be boring and frequent. A team that ships every week learns every week; a team that ships twice a year is mostly guessing in between.

Talk to the people using it.

Support email is a research channel. We answer it ourselves, because the fastest way to understand a product is to sit with someone it has just failed.

Profitable beats promising.

A product that covers its own costs can be maintained for a decade. A product that depends on the next round is one bad quarter from being switched off, and its users are the ones who pay for that.

People

HolyMake is founder-led. The person who decides what gets built is also the person who builds it and answers for it afterwards, which keeps the distance between a complaint and a fix as short as it can be.

Illia Leletko

Founder & CEO

Illia founded HolyMake and leads the work end to end — research, design, engineering, pricing, and growth. He still writes the first version of most things the studio ships, and he prefers a rough build he can hold in his hands to a document describing one. He answers the studio inbox himself, so if you write to us, you are writing to him.
